About the program

Silver Lake’s new Nursing program will help fill the growing demand for nurses in the Manitowoc area and beyond. This program will prepare graduates to integrate principles of management, education, and research into professional practice as clinicians, leaders, managers, teachers, client advocates, and agents for change. This program is intended for a non-licensed individual entering the field for the first time.

Because SLC has no waiting list, students can get started on their degrees right away.

State-of-the-Art Facility Renovations

In anticipation of the opening of the new program, SLC renovated the Nursing facility to be equipped with the latest nursing technology and design, including:

  • A multipurpose classroom — Students will engage in theory and hands-on learning in the same room.
  • An active-learning classroom — This area will simulate a physician’s exam room and feature an adjacent simulation lab with an accordion-style wall separating the two spaces.
  • Two simulation labs — Students will immediately learn to work in a simulated patient setting with a high-fidelity manikin — which will be run by a computer and incorporate advanced life-like features.
  • A debriefing/conference room — Enhanced audio-visual technology will enable students to watch live-streaming videos of their classmates participating in simulation activities.

In anticipation of the opening of the new program, SLC renovated the Nursing facility to be equipped with the latest nursing technology and design. The new classrooms contain all the tools necessary to successfully prepare students for careers in Nursing:

  • A multipurpose classroom — Students will engage in theory and hands-on learning in the same room.
  • An active-learning classroom — This area will simulate a physician’s exam room and feature an adjacent simulation lab with an accordion-style wall separating the two spaces.
  • Two simulation labs — Students will immediately learn to work in a simulated patient setting with a high-fidelity mannequin — which will be run by a computer and incorporate advanced functions such as a chest wall that goes up and down, noticeable pulses and programmable heart, breath and bowel sounds, to name just a few of the many life-like feature.
  • A debriefing/conference room — Enhanced audio-visual technology will enable students to watch live-streaming video of their classmates participating in simulation activities. In addition, students can review their own simulation scenarios.
